This is a story about what freedom feels like.
TASKA Prosthetics is proud to unveil Second Nature - a film that brings the company’s mission to life: instilling confidence through innovation, enabling people to unlock life’s full potential.
The film captures real TASKA users reclaiming the everyday moments, offering a powerful glimpse into how advanced prosthetic technology can transform lives.
It’s also a reminder that healing doesn’t need to be loud, and that living life shouldn’t require permission or come with limitations.
From casting a fishing line into still waters to cruising sunlit roads with no destination, Second Nature celebrates the beauty of instinctive motion and personal freedom.
When we set out to create this film, one core narrative struck a chord: this isn’t a product showcase - it’s a story about the people whose lives we impact, and what our technology enables beyond the physical.
“It’s about the moments that we all deserve to experience,” says Mark Godenho, Head of Marketing at TASKA Prosthetics.
“The simple, personal activities and memories that shape who we are - moments that feel natural, instinctive, and deeply human.”
“Moments that are, quite literally, second nature.”
To bring this vision to life, we partnered with Christchurch-based production company Resonate, known for their ability to tell human stories with authenticity and empathy. Simon Waterhouse and his team were perfectly aligned with our vision from the outset.
“Partnering with TASKA on Second Nature was a privilege - not only because they’re a Christchurch company making waves globally, but also because, as filmmakers, we wanted to go beyond simply showcasing ‘acts of daily living’,” says Simon Waterhouse.
“What resonated most was the openness and passion of the users featured in the film - their stories revealed how TASKA enables not just function, but the joy of living fully, on their own terms.”
Filmed across New Zealand and Australia, it was integral to our brief that the breathtaking and unique landscapes were incorporated. Equally crucial was to evoke a sense of stillness and calm in a frenetic world, where one can simply be present and immersed in the beauty around them.
A nod to TASKA’s humble beginnings is beautifully captured by Jimm Voice in his garage workshop, right here at home in Christchurch. Equally, Adrian Ware’s love for riding his modified motorbike through the outback reflects the spirit of freedom and individuality that Second Nature celebrates.
“Riding my motorbike with my TASKA hand isn’t just about getting around - it’s about freedom, passion, and feeling like myself again,” says Adrian Ware.
“It gives me more than function; it lets me keep doing what I love and leave limits in the rear-view mirror.”
It’s easy to highlight the advanced features of the products we sell - the technology that’s made TASKA Prosthetics the leading manufacturer of myoelectric prosthetic hands in the world. But that’s not what this video is about.
This is about users reclaiming the confidence to do what they love - living fully, freely, and without compromise. That’s what truly matters. That’s why we do what we do.
In an industry often focused on innovation and design, Second Nature brings the spotlight back to what really counts: helping people feel accepted, empowered, and free.
Disclaimer: Adrian rides a modified vehicle. Please consult with your doctor and prosthetist and always check your local laws before riding with a prosthesis.
