Then and now
In my early travel days, I’ve sometimes been asked to remove my prosthetic during airport security checks - a request that was not only physically demanding but sometimes emotionally taxing. Thankfully, things have improved. These days, most airport security teams are trained to accommodate travellers with prosthetics in a more respectful and efficient manner. As such I’m no longer asked to remove my prosthetic - a welcome change that reflects growing awareness and inclusivity in travel systems worldwide.

Overall while security checks can sometimes feel intrusive, I've also encountered many compassionate and curious officers who’ve made the experience more human. These moments have become opportunities to educate others about prosthetics and accessibility. Travelling with a prosthetic has helped me build patience, resilience, and a deeper appreciation for inclusive design.
