In September, Mat Jury, Ben Travers, Mark Godenho and James Williams embarked on a journey to the United States with a significant mission - introducing our company's new Chief Executive Officer, Ben Travers, to our US clients, partners, and distributor. Their itinerary also included participation in the AOPA Congress, where they returned to New Zealand not only with industry updates but also a wealth of valuable market research findings.
During one of their pivotal meetings, they acquired profound insights into the global upper limb prosthetics and myoelectric hands market. Just a few years ago, only a small portion of myoelectric hands in use had advanced multi-articulating features, with the majority being of a simpler design. Nevertheless, it is widely believed that technological advancements have significantly spurred the adoption of multi-articulating hands since that time.
Another awe-inspiring revelation from their journey was that the TASKA Hand emerged as the favoured choice amongst new upper limb amputees in the US, particularly those requiring prosthetics from the wrist upwards. This is due to its robustness and waterproof qualities, making it the ideal tool for a wide range of daily activities.
One of TASKA’s certified Prosthetist Orthotists emphasised that the mere sight of a TASKA Hand often catches patients’ attention and hearts. Our Head of Marketing, Mark Godenho, echoed this sentiment, stating that images and videos serve their purpose, but witnessing the TASKA Hand in action is often the tipping point for patients. “Seeing all the hands side by side on the table, it's hard to deny the TASKA Hand’s exceptional appeal”, he concludes.
After enduring a few hours on the road, our team eagerly arrived at the AOPA Congress, where their spirits were lifted by the widespread presence of the TASKA Hand at multiple booths. Amidst workshops and sideline meetings with key partners, our team laid the groundwork for their 2024 goals and explored innovative avenues to improve the lives of more patients through our cutting-edge solutions.
Ben Travers, our CEO, summed up the event's experiences by noting, “It’s fair to say our feet are sore and there are periods of tiredness as we juggle the demands, but the engagement has been high and we are learning a lot which we can consolidate and share through future forums as we set our ambitions for 2024 and beyond.”.
After a few other road trips and flights, and a handful of further meetings to attend and additional insights to uncover, the immersion in the market was extensive, leaving our team brimming with ideas for the future of TASKA and its transformative potential for individuals with upper limb differences.
