This summer, we’re excited to welcome five talented design and engineering interns to TASKA Prosthetics - each bringing fresh ideas, curiosity, and energy to the team.
Here’s a closer look at their journeys, passions, and what excites them most about being part of TASKA.
Krissy Epton – Continuous Improvement Engineering Intern
Krissy has recently graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechatronics from the University of Canterbury. Initially drawn to medicine, she discovered her passion for engineering through her brother’s influence and hands-on experience in medical technology internships. Outside of work, Krissy enjoys hockey, gaming, painting, and exploring the outdoors.
Why TASKA? “TASKA is the perfect blend of my interests - healthcare and engineering. I’m excited to learn as much as I can and contribute to optimising the assembly process. Seeing the level of care that goes into every hand has been inspiring so far.”
Linus Ritchie – Continuous Improvement Engineering Intern
Linus has just completed his Mechatronics degree and has a passion for robotics and biomedical engineering. When he’s not at TASKA, you’ll find him cycling or building cargo bikes.
Why TASKA? “Contributing to a cutting-edge product developed here in New Zealand is incredible. I’ve loved learning about the manufacturing process and getting hands-on with CNC milling.”
Lydia Mercer-Beumelburg – Electronics Hardware Intern
Lydia’s fascination with electricity and problem-solving led her to an Electrical Engineering degree. She’s also a competitive table tennis player and a crochet enthusiast.
Why TASKA? “My final-year project was health-related, so TASKA feels like the perfect fit. I’m excited to apply my knowledge to meaningful projects and learn more about product design.”
Oliver Freeman – Continuous Improvement Engineering Intern
Oliver combined his love for mechanics and helping people by studying Mechanical Engineering with a Biomedical minor. He’s a rescue diver and enjoys weaving and spinning in his spare time.
Why TASKA? “I’ve seen firsthand the difference prosthetics make. Being part of a company that improves lives is amazing. I’m eager to work on projects looking at ways to improve and make the TASKA hands even better.”
William Daniell – Product Design Engineering Intern
William’s interest in electronics and metalwork during high school inspired his engineering path. He loves running and tramping in the hills.
Why TASKA? “I’m keen to be a part of helping provide more freedom to those with limb differences. I’m excited to gain professional design experience and explore TASKA’s innovative manufacturing techniques.”
Our interns are already making an impact, and their enthusiasm reminds us why we do what we do - empowering people through technology. We’re thrilled to have them on board and can’t wait to see how they can help us continue to redefine prosthetics and transform lives.
